7 individual houses — Vitry-sur-Seine (FR)
To the south of Paris, on the boundary between Vitry-sur-Seine and Villejuif, the project proposes a housing model able to adapt to its inhabitants and their ways of living over time. On a narrow plot framed by tightly spaced streets, the houses are arranged to open up long views and to strike a balance between built mass, transparency and gardens.
The seven houses are raised on pilotis: the dwellings are located on the first floor, while the ground floor is left open and adaptable. This open space can become, as needs evolve, a double parking space, a covered terrace or an extension of the house, simply by adding partitions. The through-living spaces benefit from open views and abundant natural light.
The dwellings are built on a repetitive, standardised prefabricated steel frame, helping to streamline construction and control costs. Each house is designed to be energy-efficient, to limit its carbon footprint and to offer a high degree of flexibility for future layouts over time.
