AGA — Andrea Guazzieri Architect
AGA is an architectural practice founded in 2020 by Andrea Guazzieri and based in Montreuil, in the Greater Paris area. It brings together a close-knit, multidisciplinary team working from the scale of the city to the construction detail. The practice draws on Italian, French and Dutch influences, and on projects rooted in a wide range of contexts in France and across Europe.
AGA works on projects of varied scales and typologies — housing, public buildings, workplaces and the adaptive reuse of existing sites — with a particular focus on the transformation of the built fabric. Refurbishment, frugal new-build and bioclimatic design are treated as a single continuum: clarifying structural frameworks, extending the life of buildings, and organising legible, adaptable spaces that serve use rather than formal display. The work favours simple forms, rational grids and spatial systems able to accommodate changing programmes over time.
Fully engaged with contemporary environmental issues, the practice advocates an approach grounded in an economy of means in construction, long-term durability and a strong relationship to place. Its approach prioritises the conservation and adaptation of existing structures, the use of low-carbon, bio-based and geo-sourced materials, and the reuse and repairability of components. Each project is an opportunity to build with care and precision, bringing together constructive clarity, appropriate uses and sensitivity to context in order to produce enduring, responsible architecture.
