MEGA headquarters extension — Paris 14th (FR)
In the heart of Paris’s 14th arrondissement stands one of the most emblematic works of architect Christian Hauvette, housing the headquarters of MEGA International. The extension project for this office building picks up the rhythm of its elder neighbour while introducing new transparencies and openings within a dense urban fabric.
The new, flexible and adaptable structure is composed of large office floorplates organised around five double-height spaces that open outwards, acting as a showcase for the company’s activity. These generous workspaces unfold along the façade and become genuine places of everyday life. The eight storeys are grouped in pairs to reduce the building’s perceived height from the street and to create double-height loggias that animate the façade.
The façade responds to climatic, functional and programmatic needs. Its regular grid, based on a double-depth 1.35 m module, leaves the floorplates free of constraints and allows internal partitions to be reconfigured easily. The structure can be opened or closed as required, controlling natural light in the offices and offering users a high level of comfort and control.
